Each car in the Jim Clark Special Edition was finished in green with yellow striping and B-pillar badges. A racing team crest has been added to the hood on this example, and the condition of its paintwork is shown up close in the gallery below. The car is currently fitted with a painted fiberglass roof panel, and a cracked tinted sunroof is also included in the sale. The retractable headlights are said to turn on but do not pop up.
Factory 16″ rear and 15″ front wheels are finished in yellow with polished lips and shod with BFGoodrich rubber, with the seller noting that the rear tires are due for replacement. Wilwood disc brakes have been fitted at all four corners. The driver-side remote fuel filler door does not work, though its counterpart on the passenger side reportedly does.
The cabin features sport seats upholstered in yellow Connolly leather with green piping. Wear on the seats and armrest, holes drilled in the passenger footwell trim, and cracks in the burl wood accents can be seen in the gallery. The seller is said to have repaired the drooping headliner shown in the photos. Controls for an older radar detector are mounted to the top of the steering column, and a Sony cassette player is located in the center stack. The heater and air conditioner do not produce hot or cold air, and the radio antenna does not operate.
A black airbag steering wheel rests in front of VDO instrumentation including a five-digit mechanical odometer showing 39k miles, approximately 20k of which were added during the seller’s 15-year ownership. A dash plaque identifies this car as #4 of 20 in the Jim Clark Special Edition, and the headrests are embossed with “Indianapolis 1965.”
The turbocharged 2.2-liter inline-four produced 280 horsepower when new and is paired with a five-speed manual transaxle. Modifications include a ceramic-coated turbocharger, deletion of the catalytic converter, and the addition of a stainless steel muffler and exhaust pipe. A new battery was installed approximately three years ago, and the car has reportedly been stored since.
The September 2019 Carfax report shows no accidents or other damage and lists Illinois and Nebraska registration history between 1992 and July 2017. A start-up and slow-speed driving video can be seen here:
