1989 Alpina B10 5-SpeedPosted by WindingRoad about 2 months, 3 weeks ago
This 1989 Alpina B10 was imported to the US from Japan and was sold on BaT in 2015 before being purchased by the seller in 2017. Originally painted black, the car was repainted in Alpina Blue before leaving Japan, and now shows 120k kilometers (~75k miles). Power is from a 3.5-liter inline-six paired with a 5-speed manual transmission, and the black interior is equipped with Recaro sport seats trimmed in anthracite Alpina cloth, a serialized dash plaque, and air conditioning. Service in 2018 included fitment of a new O2 sensor, upper and lower control arms, engine and transmission mounts, and spark plugs as well as a rebuilt shifter linkage and more. This B10 is offered in California with documentation from Alpina, Japanese inspection papers, factory literature, a tool kit, a spare tire and jack, recent service records, and a Montana title.
The car is said to have received a color change from Diamond Black to Alpina Blue while in Japan, and came to the seller with paint matching issues. A repaint in Alpina Blue was performed in 2018 after the car was rear-ended in heavy traffic. Photos before the repairs are shown in the gallery. Exterior features include an Alpina body kit, emblems, and gold graphics.
17″ Alpina turbine wheels wear 235/45 Michelin Pilot Sport tires up front and 265/40 Bridgestone Potenzas out back. New rear Pitman arms, sway bar links, upper and lower control arms, and subframe bushings were installed under current ownership, and a brake fluid flush was also performed.
The cabin features Recaro sport seats trimmed in anthracite Alpina cloth with blue and green accent stripes. Alpina floor mats protect the carpets, and burl wood trim is present on the shifter and passenger-side dashboard. Other features include a 4-spoke Alpina steering wheel, and a serialized Alpina dash plaque.
Instrumentation is comprised of a 320-km/h speedometer and 7k-rpm tachometer as well as fuel level and water temperature gauges. The digital odometer shows 120k kilometers (~75k miles), about 6k of which were added by the seller.
The engine bay is finished in black and home to a 3.5-liter inline-six. Work performed during the seller’s ownership is said to have included fitment of a new O2 sensor, spark plugs, distributor cap and rotor, rubber fuel lines, engine and transmission mounts, cooling hoses, belts, and thermostat. A coolant flush and valve adjustment were carried out, the drivetrain fluids were changed, and fresh fuel, air, and oil filters were installed.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a 5-speed manual transmission that was installed in place of the factory automatic in 2015. The shifter linkage was rebuilt under current ownership.
Documentation from Alpina lists a build month of October 1988 and production number of 051. Service records covering the seller’s ownership, Japanese inspection papers, and factory literature are included in the sale as well as a tool kit, spare tire, and jack.
