1960 Fiat 600 Abarth Tribute

Posted by WindingRoad about 9 months, 1 week ago

This 1960 Fiat 600 has been modified to resemble period Abarth racers and is powered by an 850cc inline-four mated to a Fiat 850 four-speed transaxle. The car was built to its current configuration in the late 1990s in California and was brought to Michigan by the current owner in 2005. Additions include a triangulated roll hoop, aftermarket seats, a Nardi steering wheel, Cromodora alloy wheels, a front mounted oil cooler, fuel cell, and front disc brakes. The most recent service included installing new Aeroquip lines in the engine compartment and a fluid flush performed in spring 2017. This Fiat is being offered by a dealer on behalf of the current owner with a clean Michigan title.

Modifications seen above include 13″ Cromadora alloy wheels, an Abarth front fascia with oil cooler, Abarth badging, and props for the rear decklid.

This example also features rear-hinged doors, a feature which would last until 1964 on stock 600 models. The paint scheme includes elements often seen on Abarth racers of the period, including the checker-patterned roof.

The interior has been partially stripped, and includes a Nardi steering wheel, Fiat 850 instruments, and a Nardi steering wheel. The previous owner added several Little Kings beer touches, including a bottle shift knob, dash sticker, and several exterior stickers. Switches are present for ignition and fuel cutoff, and the turn signals are actuated by a switch rather than a column-mounted stalk. 44k miles are shown, though the true mileage is unknown.

The factory seats have been replaced with high back sport seats. The rear of the cabin houses a triangulated roll bar, the battery, and some sound deadening material.

Power comes from a Fiat 850 engine mated to a 4-speed transaxle. The most recent service included installing new Aeroquip lines in the engine bay, including the lines to the remote-mounted oil filter and to the carburetor. Mechanical modifications include a fuel cell, front-mounted oil cooler and front disc brakes.

The seller has provided a walkaround video with the car running.
