F Production Miata (SCCA)

Mazda Miata 1.6 liter F-Prod racecar.

Built by Advanced Autosports as a fun project. Only raced twice. Once as a shake down at Blackhawk and once at the SCCA Runoffs in 2012. At the Runoffs a water pump bolt broke, the engine overheated, and the car was not raced. It qualified 14th with only 2 on track sessions against the best field in the country.

This is a really fun car to drive. All the handling of a Miata with 160+ horsepower and only 2000 pounds. Stops great, runs great.

Following the Runoffs the engine was completely rebuilt by Stewart Engines; Including a new cylinder head. Car has not even been on the dyno since getting the engine back from rebuild. Previous dyno sheets are available upon request.

Advanced Autosports has too many projects at this time to continue with this project. The car is 90% complete and only needs small details and final tuning.

Legal SCCA F-Prod engine from Jim Stewart race engines of Indianapolis. Custom cams, pistons and rings. Forged rods. All the good stuff. Approximately 160 RWHP on my dynojet. MegaSquirt PNP ECU system. ARP fasteners used through-out. Racing Beat header with Magna-Flow muffler. Meets SCCA sound requirements.

Custom reverse flow cooling system with oversized aluminum radiator. Silicon hoses and aluminum tube used for all hoses. Custom breather system. Remote mounted oil filter and oil cooler. Plumbed with Aeroquip braided steel lines and fittings.

Custom light weight clutch and flywheel, designed and built by QuarterMaster clutch. 7.25" single disc race clutch. Fully rebuildable if required. Trans is freshly rebuilt with coated gears.

4.30:1 Torsen differential, rebuilt axles

Stock Miata brakes, rebuilt calipers, PFC brake pads, Brembo rotors, braided brake lines. Custom dual Tilton master cylinders with balance bar. Brake ducts to oem front spoiler. Extended length ARP wheel studs.

Interior completely gutted with stock dash pad only. All gauges are SPA electronic style. Tach has built in shift lights. Oil pressure, water temp, oil temp and volts. Advanced Autosports 8 point roll cage, legal for SCCA competition. Ultrashield competition seat with very expensive RaceCraft seat belts (HANS style). AMB displayIT lap timer. Quick release steering wheel. Multiple nozzel fire system. Wired for cool suit.

Fiberglass hood with molded in headlight doors, fiberglass hardtop with Lexan rear window. Very light, steel oem trunk lid. 1/4" thick SCCA legal Lexan windshield.

Re-valved Bilstein Spec Miata shocks, Hyperco springs with FatCat mounts. Aftermarket sway bars front and rear with adjustable rod end style end links. Power flex suspension bushings used through-out the car. Depowered steering rack.

Wheels are light weight OZ wheels, weighing only 8 pounds. Includes 1 set wheels with mounted Hoosier slicks.

Car has SCCA logbook, but will need a new inspection. No reason it will not pass. With a few finishing touches, this can be a top running F-Production racer or a great track day car. Easily convert to STL or E-Prod. If I did not have multiple racecars and multiple project cars (Lotus Europa and Super 7) to finish, I would finish this car and race it myself.

I have over $30,000 invested in the car. The asking price barely covers the engine and Megasquirt.
